     Art I: Policy Sheet

This elective course offers students an opportunity to learn the fundamentals and basic principles involved in the visual arts and the creative process. Drawing, painting, sculpture and crafts are introduced for personal discovery. The goals of this class are to help students become aware of their own unique artistic ability and means of expression.

     Art II: Policy Sheet

This advanced course offers students the opportunity to continue their journey into the discovery of their own talents by delving more deeply into all areas of art covered in Art I. Serious students who are considering a career or further study in art are allotted time to prepare a portfolio.

     Art III: Policy Sheet

This highly individualized independent study program is tailored to each students artistic abilities and interests. Each student, in cooperation with the instructor will develop his/her personal portfolio.

     Art History: Policy Sheet

This course examines the history of art from cave paintings to present day. Through lectures, slides and hands-on projects, the student will have the opportunity to learn how to approach and analyze works of art by identifying when, why, and how it was produced, thus resulting in an increased appreciation of art and the creative process.

     Pottery: Policy Sheet

This course offers students an opportunity to discover the artistic possibilities of working with clay. The history of this art form is presented, along with basic techniques such as wheel throwing, hand-building, kiln, and firing. After experimentation with the different techniques, students are provided time to stimulate their own creativity and imagination by developing both functional and non-functional works.
