    French I: Policy Sheet

This is a beginning course in the four basic skills of language learning: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The student will be able to read simple stories, maintain a simple conversation, and write a story in the present and future tenses. They will learn basic vocabulary of daily life and basic grammar components. The culture of the French speaking world is introduced through readings, music, holiday customs and cuisine.

     French II: Policy Sheet

This is an intermediate level course in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The students will continue to learn grammar components and vocabulary. They will be able to read and analyze French novels, plays, poetry and films. They will be able to write critical analyses as well as narrative stories about their own lives. The students will be able to maintain basic conversations in French.

     French III: Policy Sheet

This course focuses on conversation and literature. The students will read and analyze French literature and film and will discuss current world events. The students will learn advanced French grammar and verb tenses. They will also be introduced to basic linguistics and French phonetics.

     Spanish I: Policy Sheet

They will learn basic vocabulary of daily life and basic grammar components. The culture of the Spanish speaking world is introduced through readings, music, holiday customs and cuisine.

     Spanish II: Policy Sheet

This course focuses on the practical control of the four basic skills: writing, reading, speaking, and listening. The students will be able to communicate at an intermediate level with a focus on phonetics. They will use their skills to show self-expression, to analyze literary works and in personal reflection. Cultural studies will continue with special units on theater, classic literature, Spanish cinema and poetry.

     Spanish III: Policy Sheet

This course reinforces the students' Spanish skills through reading and composition. The focus will be on Spanish history and how it relates to Spanish literature. The students will write analytically on pieces that interest them from all genre's including poetry, prose, cinema, music, and new media.

     Spanish IV: Policy Sheet

This course is offered as an independent study. The students continue to explore the language through creative writing and reading. A thesis is required as a final project.
